The Tapped Dowel Pin Extractor Tool

The dowel pin extractor tool, or pin puller, is used to pull dowels from their location hole. Using the various head sizes, the tool threads into the extractable dowel pin and its pulled out using a slide hammer principle. Heads are available in metric and imperial threads.  Tool control kits are available on the site under parts DPE001 for metric and DPE002 for Imperial. These include the tool and all standard heads.

How to remove a tapped dowel

The Boneham & Turner Dowel Pin Extractor is a proven solution for pulling out a dowel with an internal thread (tapped) from its location hole. The extractor heads are supplied with threads to suit all ISO 8735, DIN 7979, BS1804 and ANSI pins. The heads are interchanged with the tool to accommodate the range of sizes. Using the thread size required, install the head into the tool and then screw it into the dowel. Once threaded into the pin, use the slide hammer mechanism to apply the necessary force to pull the dowel from its hole. This method ensures there is no damage inflicted on the workpiece or the external diameter of the pin.
